Spring Is Finally Here!

Kate & I have been so thrilled that spring seems to finally have made its appearance! On Friday we went to Olbrich with Meghan and the kids, and we all had a great time. Kate & Adelaide are so cute together! After they had to leave, Kate & I went to a nearby park to enjoy the sunshine some more before heading to lunch at Daisy's Cupcakery. She had a lemon cupcake with blueberry frosting, while I had red velvet (of course), and judging by the "yums!" and "Mmm, this is good!!" the flavor she chose was a hit.

Saturday we went to a bubble workshop conducted by MSCR (the same people we've often taken art and science classes through) before going to lunch at the Laurel. Then I headed to a prenatal yoga class while Dan took Kate to play at Play N Wisconsin, this great indoor showroom of all different play structures. Kate had such a great time, that we had to go back after they came to pick me up!

Then today is gorgeous and sunny so we've been doing a lot of yardwork (well, Dan & Kate are doing yardwork; I'm trying to get the inside of our place cleaned up!) Kate is having so much fun planing flowers; she is such a good little helper.

Random Shots of Our Week

Kate and I have been having a great week so far--no doubt, in part, due to the fact that spring is finally here! On Monday, our playgroup met at a member's house for a cooking club. Kate had tons of fun playing with the other kids, and we made some delicious recipes; spinach, ricotta and parmesan bites (Kate loved those!); a spinach, fruit and yogurt smoothie (also met with approval by Kate); and oatmeal, banana and date cookies (again, not surprisingly approved by all the kids).

Tuesday, we went to music class and then Kate & I headed to the children's museum. She loves that place so much! And she was so excited that this time she was able to do the life-sized hamster wheel; last time we were there, the guy said she couldn't since she wasn't 4 yet (which is weird to me, since obviously I'm right there to help her, and she's always been able to go on before), but this time the guy that always lets us go on was there, so she was quite excited!

Wednesday we had a special Mama & Kate day at the zoo; it was a beautiful spring day, so we wanted to take advantage of it! We had lunch at the Laurel and then headed to the zoo. Kate was disappointed that the lions weren't out--quite a change from last time, when she was face to face with the lion (through the glass, of course), and the lion pawed at her furiously, kind of like Maxine does. Kate was simultaneously terrified and fascinated. :) So this time she was disappointed they weren't out, but we still saw plenty of orangutans, the tiger, the rhino, the polar bear... We also went on the carousel twice and the train twice, so she was in heaven. Afterward, we got ice cream at this new place called Carnival, and Kate never complains when there's ice cream involved!

Thursday we had our Tiny Tots class (we now have only two left; can't believe the school year is almost done!) and then met our playgroup at Prairie Kids' Club open gym. We'd never been there before, but based on how much Kate loved it, we'll definitely be back!

 I love my happy girl!

 What a good climber!
