Our Weekend

Friday was Dan's last day off of work so we wanted to enjoy it. First, we took Kate to Spanish class, which she seemed to really like (although she was kind of shy at first). Then we went to Play N Wisconsin, this great showroom of all these different play structures. She had a blast; she loves that place. Then we went to Sprecher's for lunch. It was so nice to have Dan home; we were not looking forward to him going back to work on Monday!

Then on Saturday Kate woke up with a bad fever and a cold, so we weren't able to go to her friend's birthday party. She's still sick today, and poor little Owen is sick too. Poor guy; only 12 days old and already has a cold.

 Ready for Spanish class!

More pictures of Owen

Some more shots from our first week as a family of four.

From the weekend, so he was only maybe two or three days old

 Love his expression!

This is one of my favorite shots of the two of us, taken when he was minutes old. I love the expression on his face

More life with Owen

I can't believe that my sweet baby boy is one week old today! One week ago I was in my hospital room at St. Mary's, having the best time cuddling with him and trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I had two wonderful children. How is this adorable little man a week old already? I am so incredibly blessed to be his mama!

We've been really enjoying this week having Dan home. On Monday, we said goodbye to my dad, Stephanie and Austin as they headed up to the lake, and then we had Owen's dr. appt at 2. He's already past his birth weight; he's up to 6 lbs 3 oz., after being 6 lbs. 2 oz at birth and dropping to 5 lbs 15 oz in the hospital. On Tuesday, we had lunch at the Laurel before heading to the zoo. Kate loved it; Owen didn't seem too impressed, given he slept the whole time. I bet he wouldn't be able to tell you the name of one single animal we saw, even if you asked him. Wednesday the kids and I headed to a friend's house for our playgroup's cooking club; we made carrot "candy" and roasted red pepper hummus (which Kate loved; I'm going to have to make that given that she has a hard time eating her vegetables!) Dan stayed home and got some work done while we were gone, and we had our first music class of this session at 5:30. It's the first time Kate's been in there without me (now that they're older, the parents just come in for the last 10 minutes), which is kind of bittersweet since we've been doing this since she was 11 months old! Afterward, the Hines came over that night and brought dinner. Today we just hung out at home and got some cleaning done, and then tomorrow Kate has her first Spanish class so we will go to that and then probably do something over on the west side, since we'll be over there for Spanish anyway.

 Look at those little feet!

All the girl clothes I saved for three years...and then ended up having to donate anyway. Ha! Oh well. I did get a substantial store credit at the local resale shop, so I can get some good stuff for Owen!
Sleeping in her toddler bed like such a big girl, since Owen is in bed with us.

 Always so pensive

 Such a good big sister!

 So alert!
