Various pics from the lake

Dan had some photos on his phone from our first couple boat excursions, so I thought I'd share those as well.

And these are some more shots from the Oregon festival:

Random shots from last week

On Thursday we went to the park near the library and met up with some friends, Jenny, Ainsley, and Leo. Kate & Ainsley are only five days apart in age and we've known them since before the girls turned one, so it was cute to see them together. (Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures at the park). Then the kids and I went to the library and got some books (I'm so thrilled Owen LOVES to read now, and of course Kate always has!) before going to lunch at Buck & Honey's. It was a gorgeous day to eat outside.

On Friday we picked my mom up from the airport (she had just gotten back from her Oklahoma trip) and brought her out to Cambridge, where we had lunch with my parents before the kids played outside for awhile. I don't feel so bad that my kids don't have a yard, since their grandparents have an awesome one so close by!

Zoo fun!

Today we went to the zoo with our friends, Sigita, Gus, and baby Orson. We had such a great time! The new arctic exhibit with the bears is AMAZING. Before, I always felt so bad for the bears since they had such a tiny habitat to roam around in. This is so much better. Plus, there are underwater viewing areas, etc. So cool! And it was so fun to see Kate & Gus together; they have been friends since Gus was 1.5 and Kate was 2.5, so it's definitely a very special friendship!

Kate and Gus "swimming" to show the difference between how far the polar bears had to swim to get to the ice years ago, vs. now with the melting polar ice caps :(

Owen is such a big boy, he made sure to let me know I need to ride my own animal, instead of just standing next to him. Silly guy, doesn't he know he's my baby so there's no way I'm going to let him grow up so fast? ;)

 Owen loves the train!

A Weekend of Festivals

Saturday was gorgeous, so we went to my parents' house and went boating/swimming. After grilling out for dinner, Kate, my mom and I headed to the Lake Mills festival so she could go on some rides. On Sunday we went to Oregon for a parade that Rori was in, and then ate at Maria's Pizzeria (so good!!) Afterward, we went to the Oregon festival (I'm sensing a theme here...) and Kate had a blast going on rides with Rori and her friend Olivia. And Owen, of course, was so excited he could go on some rides himself!

I deserve the good mom of the year award for going on this with Kate, especially since the guy initially forgot to unlock the swinging mechanism, so when we were at the top with the ride stopped so others could get on, Kate & I were hanging upside down, with our hands on the "ground" (ceiling, really, but we were upside down!) and practically hanging from our seatbelts. Not cool...

Tuesday Fun

On Tuesday we had Owen's last music class, and then after heading home for lunch, we went to Lunchtime Live again. Such a beautiful day! This week was more of a bluegrass band, which was cool. We stuck around for a bit afterward, so that Kate could play with Bianca and Iyla, and then we went back to our side of town. After a quick stop for some yummy frozen yogurt, we went to the library to see this Bubble Wonders show. It was very cool! Kate and I were enthralled (and Owen seemed to enjoy it, too, although he was a little out of sorts since he only napped for about 10 minutes). After that, we hung around the library for awhile so that Kate could play outside with her friends Ainsley and Amelia (from music class years ago). Such a gorgeous summer day!

 So excited for the bubbles!
