Science!

I think I mentioned in a previous post that a group of friends and I get together once a week during the summer to do science experiments with the kids. This week was experiments on candy; the first one was seeing whether or not the M from M&Ms or the S from Skittles would float up if you put it in water (they both did!), and then the second one was making a hypothesis on which candy bar would float in water (Kate's all did, since she refused to take the wrapper off!)

Owen didn't have much interest in the experiment at first; we joke he's a little groundskeeper, since he likes to walk around and just pick stuff up and throw it away. Of course when he got wind of the chocolate, well, that's a different story! ;)

Owen's just chillin' while the rest of the kids learn ;)

The M really did float off!

Just doing his part to keep the park clean.

More fun with friends

On Monday August 10 we had a fun-filled lunch at Ella's Deli. The kids were so enamored by all the kitchy memorabilia; a Thomas the Train going around on tracks overhead, clowns, balloons, etc. And of course they loved their ice cream and the carousel! On Tuesday we went to the zoo with our friends from music class, many of whom we've known since Kate was not even 1! So fun that we can all get together :)

You may notice that she's missing a tooth on the bottom!

His new toddler bed.... which he *kinda* sleeps in (it's not quite the motivating factor to sleep on his own that I hoped it would be!)

 At the zoo

Owen and Rachel (who is almost exactly one year older; she will turn 3 in October)

Kate, Sydney, and her brother Sam (who is two months younger than Kate)

 Kate's friend Mary

Amelia, Ainsley, Kate, and Ainsley's brother Leo

Owen and Rachel digging in the dirt. Who needs to see animals at the zoo, right? ;)

Sunflowers!

On Sunday August 9 we spent a gorgeous afternoon outside. First we had lunch at Sprecher's, and then we headed over to the sunflowers. 5,000 of them over 9 acres; so beautiful! That night my mom and I went to dinner at The Icon before going to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. So good!

Kate took this one, hence Dan's head being partway cut off ;)

She also took this one though; pretty good!
