Kate's Dress Rehearsal

Monday night was Kate's dress rehearsal. I'm surprised that I didn't tear up to see her on stage! It was so fun to watch her up there having so much fun and giving it her best effort. She is such a sweetheart; have I mentioned how much I love her?

Here are some shots after the rehearsal; many of them are with her friend Stella, who she seems to really like a lot, since they play together after every class!

 What's that face?!

Kind of blurry because they were moving back and forth so much!

 Love this one!

 Silly girls!

Our Weekend

We had such a fun weekend. There was some carnival-type thing set up in the parking lot of East Towne, and Kate was obsessed with going. So we finally did on Friday night. She had so much fun on all the rides; she still can't stop talking about it. On Saturday we went on a bike ride on the Glacier Drumlin State Trail. I wish I had brought my camera; it was so beautiful to see everything so lush and green. It actually reminded me quite a bit of the English countryside. Kate's favorite part of the bike ride, I think, was when we stopped to have a little picnic and we came across a very friendly cat. This was no devil like Maxine, who bats and hisses at poor Kate whenever she sees her. This little guy was so friendly and wanted nothing more than to curl up next to Kate and purr contentedly. What a change from the cat that Kate is used to! I was seriously tempted to take him home (since he had no collar) but Dan was adamant that he had to belong to someone, so we are still a one (very angry) cat household for now.

On Sunday, we went to lunch at the Laurel and then got custard at Michael's next door. We then headed to the Arboretum to see the lilacs. It was so beautiful and fragrant; a perfect spring day. Until the rain came, that is... We were only able to be there about a half an hour before the downpour started, but oh well; it was still a lot of fun. When the wind kicked up and started swirling white petals everywhere, Kate laughed delightedly and yelled, "It's snowing!" No, thankfully; I'm ready to not see snow for a long, long time.

You can see the sky is getting rather foreboding...

 I love this beautiful girl!

More Olbrich

Kate and I spent yesterday lazing around the house, which was so much fun. I love all our activities, but sometimes it's really nice to just spend a beautiful summer day at home. We spent some time coloring, painting, playing in her sandbox, going to the park nearby, building blocks... I love being home with my little girl. These are just like the lazy summer days I had during my childhood, that I have such fun memories of.

Today, though, we went to Olbrich together since I want to be there as much as possible during this gorgeous (long-awaited!) spring. It's amazing to see Kate's vocabulary grow on a daily basis. She was wandering through the gardens exclaiming, "This is absolutely gorgeous!" and "Hmm, what direction should we go now?" It's crazy to me that my little baby is now a little girl.

We brought some snacks in her little backpack and had a nice little picnic on a bench, and then we had lunch at Daisy Cupcakery. So glad that spring is finally here!

The Arboretum!

Monday was a beautiful spring day, and we met our playgroup at the Arboretum. It was so much fun! We were there for over three hours, and the kids had so much fun running around and exploring. Then Kate & I went to the Laurel for lunch, before heading home for a nap and ballet class. I got to watch her class since we had to help them try on costumes, since the recital is in just a few weeks!

Kate appears to have a boyfriend... agh!! :) They spent all day playing together!

Her friend Stella came over in the middle of the dance to compare costumes, ha!
