Happy Birthday, Kate!

Back in February, we had to cancel Kate's friend birthday party because she woke up the day of with a fever, cough and terrible cold. (It turned out she had an ear infection; we actually spent a good portion of her birthday at the doctor, poor girl.) So we rescheduled it for today, April 7, and she had so much fun! It was still a Dora theme at Madtown Twisters, and a lot of her friends were able to come, which made her so happy. We had: Ainsley, Amelia, and Sam from music class; Josie & Gus from Tiny Tots; and Rori, Kirsti and Tracy. Adelaide was going to come, too, but wasn't able to at the last minute, so Kate was sad about that. (She likes all her friends, of course, but I think Adelaide is her best friend, so she was looking forward to seeing her). But, she still had a *fantastic* time overall; she was so excited. The kids had a great time jumping, running, playing--Madtown Twisters is definitely the place for this age group to have a birthday party! And all the kids were so nice and friendly and polite; they were all very well-behaved two and three year olds!

They were able to play from 11-12, and then the pizza came, so we ate in the party room. After having cupcakes (which turned out great, if I do say so myself!) the kids were able to play for a bit more before heading home. All in all, it was a wonderful party; Kate's already talking about next year!

My "red" velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (I put red in quotes because I don't put the food coloring in to make the cupcakes red; I figure there's more than enough dye in the frosting!)

Kyle's Beach Wedding

Even though Kate was still sick, we had a nice time at Kyle's beach wedding. It was fun to see the happy couple, and Kate did a great job of passing out the programs. Plus, it was just fun to see another part of Florida, since we often only go to Orlando, and it was nice to see family members that we often only see briefly in the summer.

You can see she's still not at her best, poor girl

But she still looks beautiful, even being sick!

Love this shot of the altar!

Poor Kate slept through the whole wedding, otherwise I know she would have been having a blast dancing with the other little kids there!

More Florida Pics

So, we don't have as many pictures of Wednesday and Thursday at Disney as we would like, since Kate came down with a stomach bug on Wednesday morning. We tried to do Hollywood Studios (since she valiantly said "I feel fine") but it just didn't work; the three of us had to come back to the hotel after lunch. Thursday was a little better; we did make it to EPCOT, where we did the Mexico ride (which Kate loved) and met Mulan, but then we had to go back for a rest before our dinner at Teppan Edo. Poor Kate just wasn't into it, and, since I got the same stomach bug the day after we got back, I understand why not, in retrospect!

Friday we headed to St. Petersburg for Kyle's wedding, which was beautiful. It was right on the beach, and their colors were yellow and orange; very spring-like. Kate looked so proud passing out the programs, even though she was still recovering. I was so glad she was able to wear her beautiful lavender dress that my aunt Chris gave her when she was born, too!

Saturday we headed back to Orlando and saw Katrina's apartment (gorgeous, by the way!) and went to dinner, where we met her new beau (I like using that word, sounds sophisticated). Sunday morning we just lazed about and went to breakfast at Panera before heading to the airport. When we landed in Milwaukee, it was drizzling and cold and foggy--I just wanted to stay on the plane and go back to Orlando! Too bad that wasn't possible... So we're already planning next winter's vacation in order to help us get through these last dreary days of this winter!

In the Sci-Fi diner on Wednesday. Very cool place to eat (obviously it looks like a drive-in movie theater) but poor Kate just wasn't feeling well at all.

A beautiful shot of Germany on Thursday

Waiting patiently for Mulan
