Random Shots of Our Week

Kate and I have been having a great week so far--no doubt, in part, due to the fact that spring is finally here! On Monday, our playgroup met at a member's house for a cooking club. Kate had tons of fun playing with the other kids, and we made some delicious recipes; spinach, ricotta and parmesan bites (Kate loved those!); a spinach, fruit and yogurt smoothie (also met with approval by Kate); and oatmeal, banana and date cookies (again, not surprisingly approved by all the kids).

Tuesday, we went to music class and then Kate & I headed to the children's museum. She loves that place so much! And she was so excited that this time she was able to do the life-sized hamster wheel; last time we were there, the guy said she couldn't since she wasn't 4 yet (which is weird to me, since obviously I'm right there to help her, and she's always been able to go on before), but this time the guy that always lets us go on was there, so she was quite excited!

Wednesday we had a special Mama & Kate day at the zoo; it was a beautiful spring day, so we wanted to take advantage of it! We had lunch at the Laurel and then headed to the zoo. Kate was disappointed that the lions weren't out--quite a change from last time, when she was face to face with the lion (through the glass, of course), and the lion pawed at her furiously, kind of like Maxine does. Kate was simultaneously terrified and fascinated. :) So this time she was disappointed they weren't out, but we still saw plenty of orangutans, the tiger, the rhino, the polar bear... We also went on the carousel twice and the train twice, so she was in heaven. Afterward, we got ice cream at this new place called Carnival, and Kate never complains when there's ice cream involved!

Thursday we had our Tiny Tots class (we now have only two left; can't believe the school year is almost done!) and then met our playgroup at Prairie Kids' Club open gym. We'd never been there before, but based on how much Kate loved it, we'll definitely be back!

The Children's Museum

Our playgroup met at the children's museum today, so Kate & I decided that would be the perfect way to spend a rainy day. We hadn't been there in a long time, and I had forgotten how much Kate loves it! We were there for close to three hours, and she would have probably stayed for longer if I had let her! But I was getting hungry, so we headed to lunch at the Old Fashioned. I snapped some pictures at the museum with my phone, so they're not the greatest, but they show how much fun she's having! I feel very lucky to live in a city with so many great kids' activities; it sure makes staying home with Kate a lot of fun!

And, on a totally different note; I am 20 weeks today! Halfway there! Kate is so excited for her little sister or brother to come.(She thinks it's a sister; she loves talking about little Genevieve). She kisses my tummy all the time, saying, "I love you baby!" She is so curious; she always wants to know what size the baby is (I have an app on my phone detailing that; today, for example, it says it's the length of a banana) and she is obsessed with watching videos on babycenter that detail the baby's development. It is ridiculously cute how excited she is. She is going to be the best big sister! I'm looking forward to being a mom of two, but yet it's been just the two of us for so long (during the day that is, obviously Dan is still a part of our family, ha!) and I have enjoyed that one-on-one time with her so very much, so I am making sure to enjoy every minute of these last 20 weeks where it's just my Katerbug and me. I'm so blessed that I've gotten to be home with her these past 3 years!

Spring Fun!

Here are just some random shots of Kate over the past couple of weeks. We are so excited that it seems like winter is finnnnnnallllly over and spring is here! She still takes ballet on Monday afternoons, and we have music class on Tuesdays, and Tiny Tots dance class on Thursdays. We usually see Meghan, Adelaide, and Alden once a week, too, and then we joined a playgroup back in December so we go to those activities regularly, not to mention the library, the zoo, open gym... overall we are quite busy! But I love it; I am so blessed to be able to spend my days with such a sweet, spunky, loving, intelligent little girl; every day with her is so amazing. Staying home with her is by far the most rewarding thing I've ever done! It's amazing to me to see how much she learns, grows and changes on a daily basis; I can't believe three years have gone by!

 What is that silly smile??

Having fun painting! Luckily it's washable...

She loves to goof around for the camera; she wanted me to take pictures of her jumping. Love the crazy hair!

You can tell she's loving the warm weather; we haven't been to the zoo since February!
