We went to my parents' house on Friday, August 7 to go to an Irish pub music concert in Cambridge. It was very fun, even with a slight downpour in the middle of it! On Saturday we went to a friend's birthday party at Sandy Beach; unfortunately it was unseasonably cold. But the kids still had a great time playing in the sand!
We've been having so much fun this summer, but it's been going by way too fast! I need time to slow down just a bit (or a lot....)
On Saturday, August 1, I ran my first 5k! I didn't quite hit my goal of 35:00, but I did finish in 35:32, and I ran the whole way, which felt pretty darn good! This time last year I couldn't even run more than a mile without feeling like I was going to die. This time, the feeling of impending death didn't start until around mile 2 ;)
Some friends created a group focusing on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) activities this summer and invited us to join. What a great idea! Today was our turn to do the experiment; we created volcanoes out of lemons, baking soda, lemon juice and dish soap (and of course food coloring). Very fun; the kids loved it!
On Thursday, July 23, we had a fantastic day. Playgroup with friends in the morning, then lunch, and then we met Meghan and her kids at McKee Farms splash pad in Fitchburg. Love that place; so beautiful! (the pics on my phone don't do it justice). Then our family (along with my mom) went to the ABBA concert at the Monona Terrace. Gorgeous night, great music, but holy crowds! We'll know to get there a lot earlier next year!
