On Tuesday the 30th, we had music class in the morning and then went to the library that afternoon for the "dig into reading" event. Kate had a blast! We planted bean seeds (which are already sprouting into a very impressive beanstalk on our windowsill!), dug for buried treasure, made Egyptian headdresses, and she got to "drive" some huge bulldozers! She was in heaven; so cute.
Pregnancy wise, things have been going ok. I've been having a lot more pain than I did with Kate; I actually ended up in labor & delivery (again; the first time was at 28 weeks) on Monday the 29th, because I was having such severe pains that I felt like I couldn't walk. So of course I called my dr.'s office and they wanted me to get checked out. It was so helpful that my mom was in town; she was able to come to the hospital with us and entertain Kate, and she got to see my first (and likely only) ultrasound. (Dan & I are against routine ultrasounds, but in cases like this where I was clearly experiencing something abnormal, we agreed to one). He unfortunately missed it (he had gone back to work) but my mom, Kate & I were able to see it, and it was amazing how much the face looked just like Kate's newborn picture! So sweet to see :) The downside is, they weren't able to tell me exactly what was wrong... just that it was nothing threatening to me or the baby. Which is great, of course, but I would have liked some concrete answers! When I saw my doc a week later, she thought it was pubic symphisis, which I guess is fairly common during pregnancy. Of course that was just her guess, but I suppose we'll go with that then!
Here are some shots of Kate from the dig into reading event:
