Kate's now in school, although not like we originally planned! When we went to her sneak-a-peek day the Thursday before school started, it was clear to me how much older she was than everyone in the class. Yes, it's a 3-4 class but most kids were closer to 3 than 4. She was taller than everyone, had a way better vocabulary, etc. So I spoke to one of the administrators, asking if she thought this would be a problem. She said she didn't think so, but there was still room in the afternoon 4k class if I wanted to send her there so she could be with her peers. I said that I'd love for her to be with other 4 year olds but I didn't want her gone every day, which is why I didn't sign her up in the first place. Then she said I could get approval from the district principal to just have her go part-time (3 afternoons a week). So I did, and here we are! She is LOVING it! And I love it because Owen falls asleep on the way home after dropping her off at 11:55, and then we don't have to leave until 2:30 to get her, so I get 2.5 hours of work done uninterrupted. But I think I may switch her to Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday instead of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, because Thursday is early release day so I take her at 11:55 and pick her up at 1:30. Not even worth it to go home! But I'm so glad it all worked out and we still have our two days a week for our adventures.
At sneak-a-peek day:
On her actual first day of school, we went early so she could meet her teachers, and of course the first thing she gravitated toward was the dress-up stuff! She's so funny.
