My grandfather passed away unexpectedly on September 17th. I am still reeling from this; yes, he was 94 years old, but he was the type who seemed like he would live forever. His celebration of life was on October 1, and while it was a very sad, very somber day, it was nice to hear so many memories of him from friends and family. I am so grateful that he was in such good health for so long, and I'm so glad my children got to know and love him, but I still feel selfishly devastated that he is gone, even though I know I should be grateful he had 94 wonderful years on this earth, in his own home, living life as independently as possible. I hate that he is gone; he and Owen had such a special bond, and I can't believe we will never see him again.
