On July 2, we attempted the splash pad near us, but since it was only 70 degrees, it wasn't exactly swimming weather (Kate gave it her best shot though!) So once Owen woke up we walked over to the nearby park; the kids had a blast playing with the other children there (and the Titanic nerd in me was happy that Kate was playing with an adorable little girl named Rose).
On Friday we went to Mount Olympus since Dan had off work (and there was a ticket special: $10/ticket!) We had a great time; at this age, we definitely wouldn't pay full price for the tickets (45) since there's not a lot Owen can go on (luckily he was completely free) and Kate still doesn't meet some height requirements, but we had a blast going on the waterslides and rides that they were tall enough for!
Saturday we had a really fun 4th. We went to my parents' house, had lunch, and then took the boat out and went for a swim. Such a gorgeous day! Then we had a blast having a water balloon fight in the backyard; Kate and Owen thought it was hilarious (although Owen didn't get the concept of throwing the balloon at people; he just liked to throw it on the ground and watch it splash. Ha!) Tracy and Rori, Grandma and Grandpa came over for a cookout that evening, and then some of us walked to the dock to see a fireworks show. Beautiful!
We spent the night there and then spent Sunday just relaxing. Kate played with the neighbor kids (more water balloon fights, obviously!) and around 4:30 we went for another swim. Very fun weekend (I just wish it wasn't Monday already!)
Splash Pad!
Owen looking dubious at Mt. Olympus. He's definitely not the water baby Kate is!
waiting in line for some artery-clogging but ridiculously delicious mini-corn dogs
Mini Titans; Kate loved this ride and had to go on it twice!
